THE AMBERLE FARMHOUSE, YELAGIRI – ARCHITECTURE THAT LISTENS TO THE LAND

Perched within the verdant hills of Yelagiri, this weekend retreat is a masterclass in "hybrid typology"—functioning intuitively as an intimate private residence while offering the sophisticated infrastructure of a three-key luxury boutique resort. Our architectural response was one of fragmentation and surgical precision; by mapping the existing native vegetation, we choreographed the built forms to weave through the trees, ensuring that not a single tree was cut during construction.

The heart of the retreat is a high-volume central pavilion designed for communal bonding, transitioning effortlessly from a family living area into a luxury guest lounge. The private suites offer varied spatial experiences, most notably a signature bedroom featuring a celestial aperture designed for unmediated stargazing. With a minimalist interior palette that frames the shifting seasonal colors of the hills, the design utilizes sensory anchors—like a sunken campfire, reflective water bodies, and an organic swimming pool—to blur the threshold between the indoors and the wild. At the Yelagiri Retreat, luxury is redefined not through material opulence, but through a raw, rhythmic connection to the landscape.
